In 2010, the Friends of Cradle Valley decided to set up an honours list to provide recognition for key people who have contributed to Cradle Valley in the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park. The first recipients of this grass-roots community honour were the Ellis Brothers (Ossie, Mort and Alec) who developed the Pencil Pine Lodge tourist accommodation in 1972. In 2012, it was decided to name this list in honour of Gustav and Kate Weindorfer who established the very first accommodation house called Waldheim one hundred years ago, and to enshrine The Weindorfer List on our website. Nominations for this list are invited from members and the wider community, and should be directed to the Secretary in writing, together with a brief biography and statement of cause.
The names of accepted nominees will be added to the honours list below on an annual basis.
